Vuarnet Sunglasses Frame and Lens Technology
We all know the dangers of the sun, and it will always remain a pastime for people to enjoy. What the sun can do to the eyes is extremely dangerous and is often overlooked. UV rays are damaging to the retina (retinopathy), can cause inflammation or premature aging of the cornea, cataracts (opacification of the cyrstalline lens) and irreversible ocular lesions. Infrared rays disperse the sun's heat and accentuate the effects of UV on the crystalline lens. They have a drying effect on the cornea and lead to visual fatigue. The blue light component of the visual spectrum is not easily brought into focus by the naked eye resulting in a blurred image and visual fatigue. Moreover, blue light is responsible for the dazzling effects of strong sunlight and can lead to errors in visual perception and judgment. A good pair of sunglasses is essential for enjoying the sun. The filtering qualities of the lenses must be considered so that you have the correct type of lenses for your intended use; there is no point in buying lenses designed for high altitude if you use them in everyday urban life. Consider your visual comfort as well; different colored lenses will suit different people. The brown PX-2000 subtly enhances contrast sensitivity, while the gray base of the PX-3000 gives more consistent color transmission. All Vuarnet lenses benefit from anti-reflective coating, which eliminates annoying reflections off the concave side of the lens, and improves the transmission of light through it.

Vuarnet Gray Based Lenses:
Grey renders colors to perfection. This is the neutral color by excellence. This is the color used by photographers. The grey base is ideal for the city environment: it does not alter the color of lit-up road signs such as traffic lights for example.
Grey lenses can receive a bi-shaded two-tone-colored treatment (as it is the case for citylinx).

Yellow Based Lenses
Similar to the brown base but with more intensity the yellow-green base enhances contrasts, increases the perception of reliefs, offers a deep field of vision and increases luminosity.
Yellow-green lenses may be bi-shaded (skilynx) and graduated/hydrophobic (nautilynx).

SKILYNX
Mineral lensit provides perfect optical quality (no optical alteration) and a lot of transparence. It is also very resistant to shocks, abrasion and heat. This lens benefits from chemical tempering in order to make it secure. Besides the excellent adherence of surface treatments, it benefits from an outstanding longevity.
